One mid-October weekend, four young men set out on an epic adventure in the heart of the Adirondack Mountain Range, near Keene Valley, New York. Driving to the Loj, the men experienced the first snowfall of the season. Daniel, our fearless leader, was expecting “some” snow – but nobody – not even the weather people – expected THIS MUCH SNOW. It was full-on winter hiking and camping. Thanks to some freeze-dried foods, wooden pasta, the foot dance, rain pants, and gaiters that were purchased from the Mountaineer shop en route, Daniel W, Daniel K, Andrew K, and David G had a blast.
